The Radstadt / Altenmarkt ski area is a genuine insider tip among pleasure and family skiers. Its location which is protected from the wind and with plenty of snow canons, the Radstadt / Altenmarkt ski area is absolutely snow-assured right through to late spring time. A very special highlight in Radstadt in Salzburger Land is without doubt the local ski area – the „Kemahdhöhe“. A dreamy area with 8 lifts and 34 kilometres of pistes which are rich in diversity, which presents total pleasure for beginners, piste pros yet also snowboarders (fun park).

Radstadt is an optimal access point for numerous pistes in Salzburg’s Sportwelt. Salzburg’s Sportwelt is a part of the Ski Amadé. With an unbelievable 865 kilometres of descents and 276 lift facilities at the very latest technical standard, Ski Amadé leaves no wish to be desired for a fantastic day of skiing. You can discover the regions of Schladming-Dachstein-Tauern, Großartal, Hochkönig’s Winter kingdom, Salzburg’s Sportwelt and Gasteiner Tal with just one ski pass.

Cross-Country Skiing

The Radstadt / Altenmarkt region is one of the most interesting cross-country skiing regions in Austria. Here you get to enjoy and discover everything to do with the topic of „Nordic ski sport“. Radstadt is the ideal starting point for cross-country skiing enthusiasts, for almost limitless pleasure on the slopes. 160 kilometres of perfectly marked out cross-country slopes in one of the largest and most beautiful cross-country areas in Salzburger Land await you, and know how to win you over.

Radstadt is situated directly on the Tauern slope, which is known far and wide, and which with 50 kilometres of pistes is rich in diversity and goes through the enchanting Winter landscape of Salzburg’s Pongaus, thus connecting all the towns in the region. The extremely sunny altitude slopes on the Rossbrand and the slopes on the Gnadenalm in Obertauern will indulge you. And those for whom that is still not enough, the world-renown training area of top Nordic athletes, Ramsau am Dachstein, is just a few kilometres away from Radstadt.

Those who have already left their mark in the fairytale winter landscape with the rhythmic sound of cross-country skiing knows just how good cross-country skiing is for body, spirit and soul. On the dreamy slope network from Radstadt / Altenmarkt you can be at one with yourself and with nature. The endurance sport of cross-country skiing is extremely healthy, supports your circulatory system and can be practised right the way through to old age.

Tobogganing

A traditional toboggan ride is a part of a Winter holiday in the Hotel Gasthof Brüggler in Radstadt in the beautiful Salzburger Land. In Radstadt on the Kemahdhöhe you will find a toboggan run which offers winter pleasure at its very best. With a descent of 6 kilometres the toboggan run on the Kemahdhöhe is one of the longest in Salzburger Land. As a special treat you can be taken up by a gondola in comfort and save yourself a strenuous ascent.

Our tip: Every Tuesday and Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. night-time tobogganing is on the programme of events on the very well illuminated run! A unique experience which you shouldn't miss during your ski holiday in Radstadt in Salzburgerland (Ski amadé, Salzburg’s Sportwelt). The toboggan lift journeys during the days are included in the respective day or week ski passes (night-time journeys cost extra). Incidentally toboggan hire is available at the valley station for the Königslehenbahn.

Tobogganing is an exciting experience for young and old in the Radstadt region in Salzburger Land. You’ll witness how it awakens the child in you when you speed into the valley on a fun toboggan ride on traditional wooden sleds.

Winter Hiking

If you want to take things a bit easier one day, you can go on a leisurely walk or a fantastic Winter hike through the unique and fairytale Winter landscape of the area around Radstadt in the wonderful Salzburger Land. The area around Radstadt offers 20 kilometres of cleared Winter hiking paths to uncover.

The „Ennsweg“ takes you to Altenmarkt in around 50 mins; you’ll need 75 mins for the dreamy „Ennstal circular route“. You’ll be on the road for 3½ hours if you want to hike to Radstadt from the Bürgerbergalm-Rohrmoos circular path. Or just do a circuit around the medieval Radstadt city walls (approx. 20 mins.).

If however you like things to be a bit more sporty, then have a go at snow-shoe hiking. It is the isolated peace and quiet of the fresh snow-covered Winter forest. It is the way, you can make the first traces in the just-fallen snow.

That is Winter romance and pure adventure. You plod through the superb snow-covered Winter forest, through untouched deep snow, are at one with yourself and the natural surroundings and in the dark the light from your head lamp will light the way for you. What could be nicer?
